Idle Problems

I have Idle problems when ever i come to a stop sign and the car sometimes dies. I was wondering what can be the result of having idle problems? o2sensor, vacum leak, or what?

Couple of things to consider:

Map sensor whack might be needed.

Possible change in weather heat/cold.

Adjust throttle cable.

maybe something in your gas?

from reading the other threads recently... maybe you bent a valve?

Do not adjust the throttle cabel that is the job of the IAC.

Your IAC needs to be cleaned first off. I am willing to bet it is really dirty and causing your rough idle. If need be I will explain the process.

Just do an ECU reset and go though the idle learn procedure see if that helps.

Sniper.

If it also idles rough and you have erratic off-idle acceleration - map whack. Otherwise, I'd lean towards the IAC.

read it then go from there.

I think it might be important to ask whether or not you have any mods on the car.

Are you using anything other than the OEM intake system?

What is IAC? And how can i fix that?

whitemistress2k 11-16-2006 06:06 AM

I have this same problem I'm trying to work out myself... The CEL came on for the first time and I could tell that, at idle, now she was rough and unstable... Hmm? So I get home and pull the ECU back up fuse and let her set awhile and reset everything... Put the fuse back in, let her idle for a minute, and go for a casual drive and let her relearn...
Few days later the CEL comes back on, so I go to Advance Auto and get them to read the code... Comes back P0304, Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected...
So what I'm gonna do first is change spark plugs and see what happens, then I'll follow some of the suggestions on here if this doesn't help out my problem... Car is MY01 with around 70,5xx miles... Hopefully that'll fix her...

IAC should mean Idle Air Controller if I am correct or somewhere along those lines. Sometimes it is gunked up and people clean it out and it fixes it. Other than that it could just be bad and needed to be replaced.
