I heard ap2 coilpacks in general were best ( no specific year). I also heard people pushing higher psi on ap1 coils were getting missfires at high rpm. I also heard the k20 coil packs were the same as ap2 packs. With that being said, I was going to swap the coil packs from my 08 si to my 03 s2k so when I go boost down the road i won't have to worry about it. Good idea or no?

there is a difference in ap2 coilpacks, 04-05 are one model, and 06+ are different models. It's been said that 06+ coil packs are specific to those years, you can't use an ap1 coil or 2004-05 ap2 coil on 06+ ap2's , but I don't know if they are backward compatible where 06+ can be used on previous years. I've read that they can't be used so unless someone knows that they can be used I'd stick to the 04-05 ap2 coil.

Considering what coil packs do, I can only imagine that the 04+ were revised for efficiency/reliability, and maybe the 06+ were revised to work with the ECU and DBW system?

average lifespan of the coils is close to 100k miles, they seem to fail around 90-100k based on postings on here, but you'll always get some that go further than that.

I guess that kinda narrows down my missfire code with 170k miles on mine :D

pretty good chance of that being a coil , at that mileage they don't owe you a dime, nice run with them.

I've sourced a 00 coil-pack, a 04, a rsx, and a 06, once i get them all i will setup a test bench/test system, and see if we can get some more awnsers.

I myself have a 00, with the misfire code, which looks like its the coil-packs.

More info to come.

Good luck on the try :) I would also like to see some pictures with all those coil packs sitting next to each and the part numbers :]
