Interesting Throttle Body Tech

While speaking with a Honda technician friend of mine, he mentioned to me that the factory S2000 TB is the exact same part number as an Integra Type R throttle body (the ITR TB is about 100 bucks cheaper though, on average, from your Acura dealer).

What this means is that you can use any aftermarket throttle body designed for the honda B series motor (Integra LS, GSR, Type R, 99-00 Civic Si etc). Holley is one company that makes an aftermarket (not a modified stock) throttle body for the B series, which is a 65mm unit. There are others such as Spoon, which make them 66, 68, and 70mm if you wish.

Sorry if this is old news to you, but I thought I would pass this along to you. Hope it helps.

Long time...Where have you been? I checked this before doing the GB with Proflow and there was a difference on how the air passage for the idle valve align. The cheapest way to find out is to get two gaskets and compare them. Otherwise, they are identical.

I've been doing the same thing - dyno work, engine building and tuning turbo Hondas. Loads of fun, now that I don't have a business to run.

Let me clarify - the gaskets are the same part number, not the throttle body. I had a brain fart, sue me :D Never the less, if the gaskets are the same, it should be possible to mount an aftermarket billet throttle body to the S2000 with minimal hassle

Hmm..

I know for fact the the GSR's TB is different than ours, I am not sure how different the ITR's TB is from a GSR.

as I said, I know that the gaskets themselves are the same between integra type r and S2000. The TB's are definately different between GSR and S2000, as the S2000's diameter is 62mm, while the GSR is only 60mm. On top of that, the throttle butterfly is completely different.

very very interesting. I love the fact that Hondas are kinda like Legos =)
