It runs now. A few people here and also some friends had suggested it sounded like the distributor was off 180. But since the car was running when my girlfriend drove it to her ex-stepdad's house two years ago and he supposedly never worked on it in between, I figured there should be no way it could be off, so I didn't want to mess with it. Well, turns out the asshole sabotaged it and turned it 180. It runs without a problem now. It needs a new carb because the throttle is a little sticky and one of the levers for the vacuum operated choke system is broken. And it needs some new front brakes, but I'll get to all of that in the next few months. It's just good to have it running for now.
Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone for your help. BTW, anyone know of a good source/price on a new 4-barrel for a 289?
