Knock Sensor - P0325
 

Hi guys - I'm looking for some of your expertise when it comes to the good old Honda s2000. I recently bought one of these which i have wanted for a while. Picked one up which was a bit of a project. When i bought it, the engine management light was on and there was a small tick / knock coming from the engine. If I'm honest i just thought it was timing issues and didn't think much of it. Local garages around me in south wales do not know how to work on these cars. Took it to Honda and I wanted them to look into the noise and engine management issues. The issues are oxygen sensor faulty no reading and knock sensor no response. I believe the code is P0325 which seems it be a faulty sensor. Honda are saying its showing that as there is a knock in the engine? i don't know if its just me, but i can't see how sensor malefaction would come up if there was a knock? Honda are saying there is no point changing it as, when new one is on it will just reappear as there is a knock?? Just wanted to see if anyone else knew more about this, and share some light as I'm confused. I have had the oxygen sensor changed which the car is running a bit better for it. The tick / knock only happens at idle, and when the cars seems to die ( before ) it would come then. all clearances have been checked and changed. Thanks guys

A new knock sensor will fix your CEL and P0325 code, guaranteed.

It has nothing to do with the knocking you hear. The two are not related.

Knock sensor detects pre-ignition, not mechanical engine knocks.

The knock you hear is a separate issue.

You can post a video of the sound you are hearing. Most are easy diagnose
-TCT
-Idler pulley

Some are from in the head, and can range from something loose to a valve slap.
Post up a video, and im sure we will be able to get you started in the leave evasive process.

Thanks for that guys, i really appreciate it. I have heard a few engine knocks in my time and i don't think this sounds like a bottom end knock.
