Koni Install Question.

I'm in the middle of my Koni install and I'm trying to figure out if I have the correct parts. The metal spacer that goes between the upper spring mount is too small to fit onto the Koni shaft. I tried the ones that came with my Koni's (I got these second hand) and they look identical to the ones that came off my stock shocks. I emailed Koni, and they state that I have the right parts but I need to drill out the spacer to 12mm. I haven't found anyone who has mentioned drilling out the spacer on the forum.. only the washers and the metal dust cover part.

Is this something that everyone else has had to do? Here is a picture of the part I'm talking about:

I am also considering these KONIs....what holds the lower spring perch the the shock body? What is the attachment mechanism????

What do you think about the quality of the shock?

Could you shoot a pic of the attachment mechanism?

It was my understanding that the metal collar goes through the rubber bushings that comprise the top assembly. You take the current one out and press this one in. This piece has to be replaced because the shock piston rod is larger than stock. I did an install on my 01 Type R and I had to do the exact same thing.

only the bushings and dust cover need to be drilled. everything else used is from koni.

as for the shaft being bigger... depends on where you're talking about. the stock shafts are bigger. the koni's are only bigger where all the hardware mounts on top.

The KONI's are a PITA to install with cusco swaybars....did it yesterday. You have to bend the front brake line holder front b/c it touches the sway bar.

Dammmmmmmn Can you post a pic? Maybe you can explain the lower spring perch attachment???

From the pic above I just do not see the attachment other than the two small groves.... Is that it??? Looks a bit flimsy to me.

You need to remove the spring holder from your OEM shock
