Default Koni Yellow Installation Question

On the Koni Yellow installation sheet, they circle a washer with an exclamation point. This washer goes below two bolts at the top of the suspension, right below the adjusting screw.

My shop did not install this washer because "there was not enough room".

What could be the ramifications of not using this washer? Thanks.

First, there is enough room, maybe the installer did not get those thick rubber washers into the metal (is it a tophat?) all the way. And from the picture, it looks like it's install upside down too. I believe one side if the rubber washer is hard and one side is soft. The hard side should be facing towards the tophat...if that's the correct name for the part. Maybe that's why the rubber washter is not seated correctly all the way into the tophat.

I would think, that after time, the rubber washer would get eaten away by the two nuts (not bolts as you mentioned) and the stock piston shaft (the shaft were you adjust firmness, hee hee) wil start to wobble. The really crappy part? If your installer did install t he thick rubber washers upside down on both ends of the tophat, you have to take the whole shock out to flip them.

Oh, final thing, your installer sucks. I wouldn't go back to someone who gave you extra parts just because "it didn't fit".

jyeung528....Don't worry the install is correct. On some of the Honda's they use a rubber bushing with a washer impregnated in the top of it. That is why you do not use the extra washer that comes with the Koni install.

Easy enough to test, get a strong pin and push it into the top of the bushing.

Just call Koni-NA if you still dont feel it is right. They are nice guys and will help you out.

Just to let you know right after you posted this I checked my 07 S to see what the bushing looked like. It is exactly the same as yours. I still have the stock shocks. Trust me it is correct!!
