Leaking Grease when clutch is pushed in
I noticed the other day when i was replacing my interlock pad that my carpet has black grease stains near the firewall. I looked and noticed that the rod that goes into the firewall when yhe clutch is pushed in is leaking a lot (or at least seems like a lot) of grease. Im hoping this will explain the shifting problems ive been having lately as well. I already changed my mtf and clutch fluid and just recently my shifts are super notchy.

would that be everything that i needed, or is this rod and seal a different piece. I just dont understand how it gets form the reservoir all the way to the pedal if thats all one piece. Never had to change this before, so im not exactly sure what it all is.

Yes the master cylinder assy you have outlined should come as one unit ready to bolt in. Its pretty simple swap. 2 bolts, clutch line and the clip that connects to your pedal. Its good practice to swap in a new slave cylinder outlined as #10 as well if you have some good miles on the clock, but otherwise not imperative. You should check it for any signs of weeping though like your master at least. Its bolted to the side of the trans that operates the clutch fork fyi.

that's not grease. Its a mixture of slowly leaking dirty clutch fluid and metal/aluminum combination (or whatever the shaft and the seal is made of in the clutch master). I wipe it down every once in a while. Use Dot4 in your new clutch MC as well.

FWIW, I'm on my third master cylinder in 15 years (they seem to last 7 before they start leaking), but no issues with the original slave.
