location of hole in heat shield

I am planning on keeping my stock heat shield and was wondering what diameter hole is needed in the heatshield. I am not sure how much movement the ETD makes and dont want it to rub. Also, if anyone can tell me the location (measurements from the top and side of the shield) where I should make the hole, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have a hole cut in my stock heatshield, but my mount on the other side was mod'ed. I will see what I can dig up got you.

can i use the J's ETD with a Comptech upper strut bar? or would i be better off with Alex's ETD? thoughts? TIA

The J's or Alex damper can't be used with any other STB, unless you have a custom body side mount built.

That's not true. I've mounted a cusco front strut tower bar with a J's racing damper with no problems. I'm sure a lot of other brands will also fit with the J's damper.

Then you are stackiing a STB on top of the J's bracket.

You must be using non-OEM shocks, because the stock shock mounting studs aren't tall enough for putting both on and having threads showing above the mounting nuts.

It's not designed to be used with another STB.

Yes, I did stack the STB on top of the J's bracket for the damper.

Also, the shocks are oem and there seemed to be plenty of thread to put the nut on but you are correct, there are not enough threads to be shown above the nuts.

Although not designed to be used with other strut tower bars, it can be done safely.

The car has seen track days and many street driven miles without any issues thus far.

 I can attest to that

does this mod actually do anything for the car?
