Default Loud whining sound coming from car.

So today the car developed a new whining sound coming from the engine bay. Of course as soon as I tried recording the engine bay the sound stopped but I have two videos of the sound inside and outside of the car.

I just got back about a week ago from a 1600 mile round trip with the car and haven't driven it until today. Other than starting it once a day. As soon as I can I'll upload a video of the engine bay. Not sure what this could be.

Is the whining noise with car moving and/or not? In gear? In neutral? Both deceleration and acceleration?

Thanks!

Should've mentioned that in my OP sorry about that. Its quiet with the car moving(although that could just be me hearing things because wind noise is so loud) It's also in neutral, and in gear and will pause during acceleration for a moment then begin again.

Remove the serpentine belt and run the car. If the sound is gone then you know it is something belt driven. Then proceed to use a screwdriver or something as a stethoscope on each component driven by the belt to determine which component/pulley is gone. Also you can try spinning the pulleys by hand to see if one is busted.

I removed the belt and checked all the pulleys and from what I can see/feel they are all fine. I did notice however the indicator on the tensioner is all the way to the right. So I'm assuming either bad tensioner? Or possibly just need new belt. Not sure.

So, car idled without noise = when you removed the belt?

If you spin the idler or alternator pulley, do you notice any noises similar to the ones you are hearing with engine idling? Do any of them feel notchy? If not, I'd prolly opt for a new belt --- see if this fixes the problem.

Good luck!

Yes, I ran the car with the belt removed and there was no noise. The pulleys didn't feel notchy whatsoever and weren't making any noise. Once I put the belt back on and started the car again the noise was returned right away. I ordered a new belt and hopefully that's all it needs.

Try to determine if it'd coming from one of the belt driven components too. One of them will probably vibrate I'm symc with the noise.
