Default low gas mileage

hi people,

so i have a question about my gas mileage. i am a new owner of my 2007 s2000, and when i picked the car up i was getting about 300 miles per tank fill up. i don't drive my car hard, but i do city drive to work in it. anyway, on to my question:

i recently did an oil change on my car (royal purple and k&n oil filter...hot level is at the top notch of the dipstick [near the H]...5 quarts and a little bit of a 6th quart to top off) and ever since then i've been getting around 250 miles per tank fill up.

can putting too much motor oil cause me to get a lower gas mileage? or am i just self fulling a problem?

how many miles on average (rough estimate) are you guys getting with your s2000?

thanks in advance. if there's a thread that already exists please link me and close this one down. thankya

cool. when you fill up your tank however, is the gas level indicator pretty low or could you estimate how many tick marks it has?

i ask b/c i'm hitting up to 250 when my gas indicator has about 0-1 ticks left

I never understood why people measured fuel mileage in this manner. Calculating your MPG is just as easy and you don't have to run you tank dry. I usually fill up with 3-4 bars left.

With that being said, I was getting 26mpg mixed driving. I installed my HKS 75mm and got 27mpg mixed driving and that's with some spirited driving. If anyone talkes bad on a big exhaust, they're completely full of BS(this is the best I've gotten sense I've owned it).

The fuel bars are not that accurate. To find MPG you should have divided miles driven by gallons of gas filled.

Also, I found driving top down decreases mpg by 10-15%
