Buddy of mine says coil packs/wires? Kinda seems like it to me. Don't know much about this stuff, so are there any particular brands to go for?

Coil packs are not your problem.
This car has no plug wires like other cars.

Ok, then what might it be? Spark Plugs? whats a good brand for us S2ks?

It's not spark plugs, off the wall guessing is only going to waste time and money.

Your post is missing a lot of info to make an educated diagnosis.

Sorry about that... What could I add to help?

When I get going, the car will kind of...skip a beat?... like it blips down instead of smoothly running up the revs. only experienced this in 1st 2nd and 3rd gear. (only once in 3rd.) this will happen maybe 1ce a day (i drive approximately 30 miles a day.) and when it happens, it happens 2-3 times in relatively quick succession - maybe 250-500 rpm apart
