I threw together a video showing common points of deferred maintenance
Hi all, I made this quick video to show you how to check your car for worn components. I apologize I do not have examples to share, but I'm hoping some users can maybe post photos of their original engine mounts in their cars from new to show what they look like after 20 years. Edit: Also, while talking about the control arm bushings, I mention cracked bushings being a sign of worn bushings. However, please remember that rubber does not have to crack to be dry. Poke it with a screwdriver. If it doesn't feel supple, it's bad. Rubber components have a 5-10 year service life so that is something to keep in mind.
I tried to be concise. I apologize if I misspoke about or misnamed anything as I was trying to get through this as quickly as possible.
The video shows how to put your hood into maintenance mode, and also covers the following:
1. Engine Mounts
2. Control arm bushings/ball-joints
3. Front anti-roll bar bushings
4. Diff mounts
5. Rear anti-roll bar bushings
6. How to tell if your clutch is going bad (stiff pedal, leaking clutch master cylinder)
7. Radiator
8. Design of the stock intake and why it's so good
9. LHT brake booster brace
I really appreciate you watching this video and I hope it was helpful.
