Question mobil 1 high mileage?

I did some searches and didn't find anything specific on this question, if it has been discussed before, point me to the thread and I apologize in advance.

My S has 79,000 miles on it. I have always used regular Mobil 1 full synthetic and I know that Mobil 1 offers a "high mileage" oil.

I put about 4,000 miles on average on the car every year.

Does anyone have any insight on whether or not I should go to the high mileage oil, which Mobil 1 recommends for cars over 75,000 miles?

1 other point, my S is supercharged, if that has any bearing on the choice.

Thanks in advance for any advice the "under the hood" experts can provide!

Are you burning (using) oil between changes? If not, I wouldn't worry about changing.

Just my opinion.

No need to use a high mile oil, as already mentioned if it isnt using much then no need. All the high mile oils do is try to reduce consumption in tired engines. If you are supercharged just keep to regular changes, decent oil and all will be good.

Cheers,

Why is this question being asked?
What benefits are you looking for and what apprehensions do you have?

Its just oil. And you own a Honda.

Literally every single Honda ever mass produced will run happily to 300K++++ miles, using mystery oil out of a jiffy oil barrel.

Not apprehensive on any Mobil 1 product, just wondering since they do a high mileage oil if it would be beneficial in the long run to use it over the standard Mobil 1 oil.

Beneficial?

I mean...I guess?
It burns off slower...and is less likely to leak through small leaks.

Its not going to make or break the car. You will notice 0 difference.

Honda doesn't recommend anything special for these cars.

Assume a net 0 in terms of benefit or harm.

It's just oil, bruv.

Their high mileage oil is a 10W-40 semi synthetic oil. If you're OK running semi synth in your S2K then go ahead but I'd recommend you stick to full synth like their 5W-40 or 5W-30. Its the higher performance oil/s compared to semi synth. As stated above you may not notice any difference if you switch anyway.

It's called marketing. Main ingredient in ordinary Mobil 1 is already marketing.

I believe all Mobil 1 oils are synthetic.
High Mileage oil runs a little thicker than the same weight in the standard M1, cSt @ 100 ºC of 12.1 for the H/M and 10.1 for the standard M1 10/30

You really don't have a high mileage motor. High mileage oils have a bit higher grade base oil compared to conventional oils, and additives for engine seals. Running a good synthetic is better than a high mileage oil and the S2000 motor won't have seal issues at any age IMO. The only situation I would run a high mileage oil is if you want to run short intervals like 3000 miles, in that case it makes financial sense compared to dumping out perfectly good synthetic oil every 3000 miles. Some people just like short intervals and sometimes that isn't too bad of a strategy on a boosted motor due to shearing and combustion impurities etc.
