Default MotoIQ F-series build - nitride gas treating the crank?

The video discusses an F-series build for Evasive’s time attack S2000. It’s pretty long but I just have a specific question.

I know our cranks can’t be polished. That means that crank scoring is a death knell. But Mike had the journals machined in this video and then had the crank nitride gas treated. My question is whether this is a possible solution to scored cranks from spun bearings. Can the crank be polished and nitride treated to allow them to be reused? Has anyone tried this? What’s the cost looking like on something like this?

edit: fixed the link

I'm not an expert on crank work, but did want to point out Mike had that done to an aftermarket billet k24 crank and not an OEM Honda crank for this build.

Makes sense. I probably skipped past the part where he mentioned that. But now I’m curious if we can re-nitride a crank and run it again. I wonder if anyone has tried.
