Motor Mounts Vids - Thank You DIYGuys
Quickly browsed the rules and didn't see anything specific about this, so figured I'd give it a shot. Hopefully it's not pulled. I wanted to say 'Thank You' to the DIYGuys YouTube channel. I subscribed a few months ago, and it's been awesome. I've learned a lot about my car, most recently about the motor mounts.
I hadn't seen anything pop up in the new threads, so I wasn't aware of the ~70k miles life span on the factor fluid-filled mounts. My 2005 has near 145k, and the last 500 miles have included 5 autocross events. I always though the shifter was a bit wobbly, but overall the car seemed solid after performing all routine maintenance so I never imagined I had issues. I saw the video on motor mounts pop up a few weeks ago, and figured I'd check them out while flushing fluids after the end of the season. Both of the mounts were split, one of them completely in half.
I researched through the forums and found a new set of Megan Racing mounts, and am absolutely floored by the change in the car. Everything about the change, from the throttle response to the clean shifting in the transmission, has been unbelievably worth it. Admittedly, having a more solid connection from the motor to the chassis set loose a whole string of new rattles that I'm still trying to hunt down, but it's well worth it.
Glad these videos are out there. We need them as the cars get older!

(also, i had to get a bit aggressive with lifting the motor to get the driver side mount in. be careful!)
