How would you encounter problems by just cutting an exhaust pipe?

I have a write-up in the Racing forum about cutting the stock exhaust just upstream from the split and installing a short turn-down to cut ~40 lbs out of the system.

It's quieter than the early Invidia exhausts and a whole lot lighter. Off-throttle drone is pretty annoying though, and it'll only be worse if you've already removed one of the resonators.
