Default My car won't start and makes a rapid *click*click* sound when I try to start it.

Actually, this is for my civic. My S2000 is fine.

Anyhow, I tried jumpstarting it but that didn't do anything.

I'm guessing it's the alternator?

Are there any other possiblities on why my civic is doing this?

It's only a MY99 and I have had no other problems.

This is the first problem I've had with this car.

Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bryan

If it just clicks try to boost it again...maybe you didnt have the cables connected well enough. When connecting to your civic, try connecting the negative to any metal part close to the altornator. This will ensure the car will get the most amprage from the other car....If this dont work then it must be your starter. Get a long screwdriver and hammer, give the starter a good hit. Try to start it then. If it does then your starter has a flat spot and will need to be replaced.

Good Luck

sounds like the starter possibly or your battery may just be totally dead... if it was your alternator it would still jump start, just wouldnt stay charged when you go to restart it... go to autozone or somewhere.. them places will load test your battery for free.. that will help eliminate one of the things it could be

use a screwdriver or pipe..somthing long enough to reach the starter. Put one end of it on the starter casing and give it a hit with the hammer. It could mean the starter soleniod is stuck and need to be freed....

Sounds like the starter. If it were a dead battery, you wouldn't get any noises.
