Companies bolt brakes together all the time, certainly ap do but I know that more do. They're assembled using nord lock washers and a2 stainless bolts with torx heads.

Also, who's offering brake parts for sale? These are paperweights as per the first post

What thickness did you use for the rotor hat below the bolts? Looks a little on the low side, but there are a lot of bolts, so you might be ok there.

I don't agree that slots are the only way to deal with radial expansion between the two pieces.

From memory it's roughly 6-7mm, they shouldn't pull through, especially as there isn't any lateral load on the discs, all the bolts are doing are squeezing the disc and carrier together, friction does the rest.

Even if the aluminium was to expand radically relatively to the iron, it would simply squash anyway, aluminium is like rubber compared to iron!

Never heard of the urge mod and a few searches haven't revealed anything, have you got a link for me?

As I am based in the UK, yeah, I "think" we have them .

Click the link and scroll down to the bottom of the page for the mods to the carrier they did to fit a 16.5mm wide disc.

Maybe with better tires (tyres?) you would have to brake so much?

Ah sorry, I'm on mobile so without being nosey and looking at your profile I didn't know you were in the UK, I just assumed the majority here were in the US.

I had thought about making the discs that much wider but at ~£110 for a set of rear pads I didn't fancy throwing away 2mm a side of rear pad either. It was a regular job at a place I used to work, and at the time I couldn't understand why, but I guess that question has been answered!

Well on the Nurburgring my brakes and redstuff pads had turned to wood by adernau (sp?) forst, and I feel like my cornering speed was there.. But I'll upload my video when I get home from work and you can judge for yourselves.. Currently doing 60 hour weeks to pay for my engine rebuild parts

Shame it is so hard to get a full clear lap in real life LOL.

My best is an 8.10 in traffic (not in the S2000), which would have been a sub 8 without the hold-ups .

Tell me about it, although weather it's a glitch in the matrix or they give you laps with hold ups for free - the new online system still shows me having laps left, even though I should've used them all?

This is really interesting, and it appears it works well. But, pretty damn expensive considering its an expendable part. Given that new blank cheap rotors are about $50, wouldn't it be more effective to install brake ducting?
