he may make the same peak power and thats impressive...but you ahve much more area under the curve which is more useful. crazy though that it would net 220hp on a 240hp motor, thats really impressive

this was on a dynapack. the first was a stock 05 with an ap1 flywheel and an act clutch i believe... (some kind of aftermarket clutch) and the second is an 06 with a ton of mods.

The lower one on Boof's dyno is a stock '06 from a few days before he did his dyno.

Is the Hondata 06 Reflash Toda Spec for the header? If so, how close of a match is the Toda header to the J's header? That might cause the discrepancy in power gain?

The reflash is the reason for the difference in area under the curve. Boof's VTEC engages at 4500rpm, mine at 6k. When I get the reflash for mine, the curves will look much more similar. Look at where the lines diverge at approx 4500 and then recombine at around 6k when mine jumps back up to approx where his is (minus the 5hp diff)

Yes, I remember reading about the Hondata flash when it first came out. IIRC most people were seeing the transition into VTEC pick up about 15HP with the reflash and as a result this smoothed the power curve quite a bit (no more big VTEC spike). I know that overall, the reflash will help the lower end powerband and make the car more usable throughout the entire RPM range.

What I was curious about is if the reflash was designed to work with a specific header (Toda)? Would not using a Toda header have a detrimental effect? I'm wondering if that's why peak HP isn't higher on the '06? Then again Sputnik, you might just have a factory freak.

wow...so dropping the VTEC engaugement and re tuning for that new amount of lift and duration at that RPM yeilds that much tq....i really gotta hit a dyno....

do you know what if anything changes with the ignition timing when it comes to the reflash?

i'm sure they tweak the timing a bit, thats where they get the small overall gains.

The smoothing of the torque curve probably comes more from the intake/exhaust on Boof's car than on mine than from the reflash. The reflash will help, but not on the lower end (below 4500 where VTEC engages)
