It does suck; seller's being OK about it on initial contact, and I haven't even threatened to go nuclear with a chargeback yet (Amex seems to like me). Looks like I can get a partial refund (no idea of what their idea of a fair discount would be yet) and keep it, or return and refund. I'm thinking I'll try to bend the flange back and keep it ... since I'll be facing similar chances of shipping damage on another one. Coupla bolts through piece of 1/2" steel may do the job.

Thats a hell of a hit to bend that flange, id be more concerned with potential race/bearing damage on that side. Its a gamble. But yeah you dont want a compromised flange either. May break on you trying to bend back or add to some vibration.

I've had the exact whine you describe in 3 different s2000s all AP1. I recently had my CV axle shafts replaced thinking they were the culprit. Whine is still there but much quieter. Like yours it's on light acceleration.

Did you try thicker axle grease in the CV joints? There is a long thread on here about CV axle grease, someone had better luck with thicker redline grease.

Well, replacing the diff has definitely solved my original problem.

Problem is, I'm now chasing this noise (guess I didn't notice it previously, as I was focused on the other): https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-un...ation-1144998/
