New clutch slipping

Ok guys this is my first time posting in these forums. I just want to know what the problem is with my clutch. The clutch is pretty new only 700 miles on it and after doing a hard pull and a race the clutch started to slip pretty bad. And my clutch pedal is all completely stiff no free play anywhere and my engagement point is at the very top, the pedal is suppose to have some type of free play right ?

Clutch play can be adjusted. search these forums for an adjustment procedure to get the correct amount of freeplay.

When you replaced with clutch, did you have your flywheel resurfaced? Was this with all OEM parts? If so, do you recall if they resurfaced just the friction surface or if they machined the 'step' where the pressure plate bolts. I've read of people who did not machine this step and they clamping force from the pressure plate was effectively reduced.

You probably have master cylinder preload. Preload is the opposite of freeplay. Preload will cause the clutch to slip.

You should have about 6mm of freeplay for a FACTORY clutch. 6mm of freeplay signifies that your pedal rod is touching the MC piston...and the 6mm is the amount of space needed for the piston to move over the port. But...not important why. 6mm is important.

I assume 6mm will also work with most aftermarket clutches. Some people are also weird and like the engagement to be close to the floor...for which you'll need a LARGER freeplay. Just don't over do it and cause the gears to grind from improper clutch disengagement.

@b series so u think it's just a problem with the MC ? And the amount of free play ? when I'm driving it normal it feels like everything grabs fine, it's just if I get on it pretty hard it slips sometimes and the clutch pedal gets really stiff and the free play goes away

That sounds like the symptoms you would see if its what B is suggesting. Adjust your clutch freeplay. Today. Now. All you need is a 12 mm open end wrench, and a flexible back.

Contort yourself under the drivers dash, and look up. You see a rod about pencil sized sticking into the firewall, that moves when you press the clutch pedal. You want to adjust that rod so its shorter, sticks less far into firewall, into back of clutch mc.

There is a 12 mm on this rod. Loosen nut. Then turn the rod to loosen it. Counterclockwise. Turn it so it backs away from touching the disk on the mc. Now turn it back in the other way until it just starts to barely kiss that disk. Stop. Tighten nut. Drive.

Alright guys I'm adjust it as best as it can get and feel then I'm going to get on it and see if the slipping comes back thanks guys.
