Default No start, no crank, no clicking

So here's a good one. A few days ago i started up my car on a simi low battery. It had a bit of trouble turning over but on the 3rd crank, which did get right to the point of the battery going flat, the engine fired and the car sprung to life. I drove for 2 hours on a trip, figured it would charge the battery on the way.

Welp i shut off the car after this trip, and now it wont turn back on. Dash lights up, everything turns on, but pushing that magic button does absolutely nothing. I havnt busted out a volt meter and checked to see if there is any power draw, but ive paperclip'ed the clutch switch, and still got nothing. Push starting the car worked a-okay and it turned right on.

I have no clue if its the starter itself or not but Honda said it would be $700 for a new started, all work included. Is there anything anyone can think of that i might have missed before i result to this option. Im going to try and disable my 3rd party alarm in the next few days, as im hoping maybe the immobilizer in the alarm shorted out or something. Ive checked the fused and didnt see any that where blown, but will be retesting with a volt meter just in case. Is it possible that a cable on the started could have come loose? Have i angered the s2k gods again? God i sure hope not...

Edit: Basicly, nothing, at all, happens when i push the starter button right now. no clicks, cranks, power draws, anything.

Edit 2: Got it started finally. Turns out the clutch safety switch wasnt actually connected properly and i just didnt get it jumped correctly. Whoops! Rubber grommet rotted out and fell apart. didnt even see it on the floor of my car.

Now my goal will be how to get the new grommet back in...

Think back in the past couple weeks have you pushed the start button and nothing happened and then imediatly pushed it again and it worked? In hind sight prior to my starter completly failing this happend 3 or 4 times and i just atributed it to not pushing button hard enough or to quickly maybe... after the starter was dead i had that oh-ya moment where i realized the signs were there

Btw its a nightmare job. My hands were all cut up, some fairly deep from the little hose clamp things. It really is a shitty job and honda put way to much in the way. 99% chance you will break your knock sensor too. Which is another like $150 or ballade sells oem ones for 90ish

Check the battery voltage. Anything below 12.7v indicates a bad battery although as low as 11.5 will start my 5.4L V8. Below 10.5 the battery is damaged and may not recover.

Agree with above. Did you fully charge the semi-drained battery? Check battery and starter connections. If you can't check battery voltages, may want to take it down to a parts store and have the battery tested.

Anyhow, I'd rule-out all simple and cheap fixes, first --- before diving into the alarm or getting a new starter.

Good luck!

Sounds like the battery might have had just enough juice to start your car before the 2 hour trip. If the battery has low enough voltage and can't recover, that would explain why it stopped having enough juice to turn the car over at all. Would definitely check voltage.

Thanks for some of the advice guys. Im going to get the battery tested later on today. Hopefully it is something simple as just a screwed up battery. Still find it weird all the lights and stuff works but thats cars for ya.

So, first off, sorry for the double post.

Second, Battery is 12.4v as tested with my volt meter. I know this is below what Chuck said, but even then, pushing the star button has no effect on any other system in the car, as in, the dash doesnt dim like there is any extra draw of power or anything.

EDIT!!!!

Got it started finally. Turns out the clutch safety switch wasnt actually connected properly and i just didnt get it jumped correctly. Whoops! Rubber grommet rotted out and fell apart. didnt even see it on the floor of my car.
