If your plug backs out it'll take out the coil pack almost asap and a very good chance of bricking the motor entirely. Please for the love of god 22ft lbs for spark plugs. 24ft lbs is ideal, I rather have to use some muscle to pull the plugs than have to use muscle to pull the engine. Billman has tested the plugs up to 70ft lbs, the threads on the head were fine, the insulator on the spark plug shattered. 24ft lbs is nothing.

They revised the spec. So depending where you look it up, you may still see the old values.
Is it a surprise not everyone that makes a video knows the new spec? They're just repeating what they found.
Certainly there are cars driving around right now with the plugs at old spec, and the motor hasn't immediately grenaded. But the are all constantly on the edge of that happening. Past results are not an indicator of future performance. If someone says they left them at 18 and never had a problem, that doesn't prove anything.

The old torque spec for the spark plugs was only 13ft lbs, new and revised is 18ft lbs.
There are no real downsides to go a bit higher than that though so that's why people here recommends it.

Well guys did the oil and filter and spark plugs. Now the filter.... The strap wrench I got was totally useless it didnt grip at all and just slid around so I had no choice but to hand tighten as hard as I could.
So far car drives totally fine.
And dear God the plugs were a bitch. The spark plug socket I got has a rubber piece in it that came off inside the tube so I had to fish it out then super glue it inside the socket.
Then the actually socket got stuck to the spark plug inside the tube so I had to fish it out and electrical tape it to the socket extension.
