oilpressure low or normal?
hi guys i just want to know if my oil pressure is low or normal my oil pressure is 44psi-45psi at 750-810rpm at idle. im askin cause the last time i remebered when i checked it its at 47psi at 850-910rpm at idle. the thing is that i drove the car at about 100kms last saturday.. then went back home parked the car in the garage. my driving last saturday was easy driving i wasnt going into vtec, the max rpm that i was running was 5000rpm. then after two day just now when i start the car and let it idle i was idling low about 750-810 rpm... then my oil pressure was at 44-45psi... is it normal what could have cause my idling to go low???? my normal idling was at 830rpm up. could it be the oilpump or just a loose throtlle cable??? pls help me guys!! newbie here!! thanks!!!

anyone ??? pls help me... pls... thanks!!

anyone??? pls..................

My oil pressure at fully warm idle in the winter is 15-25psi. During the summer, its gets as low as 12psi on the really hot days. Granted I have FI so my oil is probably a good bit hotter thus less viscous.

What oil are you running?
Have you upgraded your banjo bolts? How many miles on the car? What's your oil pressure throughout the rpm range? |

Though I am also FI'ed IIRC the manual says 23-35 psi @ idle so yours is actually high! |
at what rpm is that????? nope all stock internals here. im using all honda LEV vtec oil. at the link meter its 44-45ps at kpa at the gauge its between 3.5- 3.8 x1000kpa on the defi BF gauge.

Your oil pressure readings are somewhat high, assuming that they are in psi and not kPa. 45 kPa = 6.5psi and that would not be good. 3,500 kPa = 507 psi so that doesn't make sense either.
Your idle has dropped a bit and that may be due to the adaptive learning of the ECU. The throttle cable has nothing to do with idle speed - do not adjust it. Again, it's not something to worry about, especially since you do not report any driveability concerns. Monitor the idle over the next few days making sure to have several start/stop cycles each day, and see if it returns to the slightly higher level. many owners are report idle changes, usually associated with changes in ambient temperature. Oil pressure is primarily a function of oil viscosity, and higher pressure is not always better. For example, if you use oil that is too thick it will not circulate properly in the car until it warms up. You will see very high oil pressures, but the engine will initially experience poor lubrication. Also, given the accuracy of most consumer oil pressure gauges, a difference of 2 psi is barely outside the variance of the instrument. |
i drove the car earlier and the car drives normal!! my defi link meter is reading in psi it reads 44-48psi and on the defi gauge its reading 3.5-.3.8kpa at idl then when you drive it it reads 93-96psi at 4000rpm and at almost 6.0kpa it says on the gauge that the reading is x1000kpa. so is it normal?? thanks!!! the car pulls strong!! in using the honda vtec lev oil that honda is selling here in the philippines! thanks!!
so is this normal?? thanks!!! |
my idling went up to 850rpm at A/C on and maintained the idle of 810 -830rpm when the engine was warm with out A/C.. nut at long stops it plas from 790-810rpm... is it normal???
