Somehow, I don't find this surprising at all.

You either screwed the pooch or you didn't.

actually what you should have done was a compression/leakdown test to determine if you bent any valves

How did it feel and sound immediately after that?

Hit 10k in a stock AP1, split the retainers.

hit 10k in an AP1 with AP2 retainers, you will not split the retainers.
Your 10500 seems awfully close to the valve contact RPM discussed on the forums...

I would probably start by inspecting the retainers? Err, I'm not sure. It may be possible you bent valves?

Keep driving it. If you bent a valve your motor will let you know

I pulled an amateur move and did the same thing last summer , although I had redlined 3rd going for 4th and grabbed 2nd by mistake and the car felt like I hit the brakes and immediately was either bouncing from the limiter or valve float. So your guess is as good as mine on what kind of mechanical rev I hit. It was a bad one! The engine felt fine though and have had no signs of belt valves with how it runs etc. Ive put 2k miles on it since then so I appear to have dodged the bullet on this one.

This. If your valves made contact this will let you know. I would rather know and have the ability to pull the head and replace one or two, then let it break, drop and mess up my pistons and cylinder wall.
