P0141 Code on new O2 Sensor
 

Unfortunately, I have gotten two P0141s since replacing the rear O2 sensor (saga detailed here) with a $22 Kwiksen sensor from eBay. Previously before replacing the TWC and sensor, I was getting P0140 and P0138 but no longer.

I can pull data from my OBDII while running and I see the voltage changes for the rear O2 so I'm assuming the sensor is fully connected. Any suggestions? Should I bite the bullet and buy the Denso?

s2000's really do not play nice with low grade aftermarket parts. The P0141 however is a circuit code, so throwing parts at the car likely won't remedy the code.

There is no way to ensure than any aftermarket part will work. You just get lucky sometimes.

That awfully inconvenient blanket fact being said...O2 sensors aren't something you want to buy for $22.

Buy a used OEM sensor. Or buy an aftermarket one from Denso/NGK to have some level of confidence.

factual, but that code doesn't aim directly at the actual sensor being faulty. Some diagnosis will need to go into the fix for the CEL, chasing down frayed wiring, as an example. The correct procedure before being a new sensor would have been testing the original one, not sure if this has already been done.

Update: I replaced O2 sensor with Denso 234-4364 and no more P0141 codes.
