The CEL on my S randomly turns on and off for different periods of time. I pulled the codes and I got P0172 and P1399.

The previous owner of the car said it is because of the exhaust (Tanabe Medallion Touring) and his honda technician recommends to not drive it aggressive for the first 5 or 10 minutes. Otherwise the car will think it needs more air and will begin to idle low, and/or CEL will come up. Has anyone ever heard of this?

New spark plugs? Are they tightened to correct torque specs (22-24 ft-lbs). When was the valve lash adjustment done? Are you using O2 sensors? Stock OEM?

P1399 is a misfire code

p0172 means it's running rich


i would not drive the car if its misfiring

compression check check your spark plugs try to replace them

make sure your fuel injectors are working
