Default p0410, blown fuse, now what

So my MY00 S developed a problem with the air pump and it now has a CEL P0410. I first noticed the 60A fuse was blown and replaced it but it blew again as soon as I started the car. I did a visual inspection of the pump to see if the housing was melted like I've seen in the TSB but it looks okay visually. Im pretty much stuck now. I'm a noob at electrical circuits so I don't know how to test to see if the relay and pump are functional. I'm guessing the relay is bad simply because the pump looks okay but that's just me guessing and I don't want to just throw money at the problem. Can someone give me some guidance on how I can check the relay to see if it works? Or maybe someone knows of a fix. Ive seen the delete kit and I don't want to go that route.

You should find a short in the wiring between the air pump fuse and the air pump current sensor. The air pump and relar are in the front fender well while the current sensor is in the same wheel well back back toward the driver (I.e. right of tire under left inner fender). It hangs on a bracket with a two wire harness going in and a two wire harness going out. The current sensor housing will come apart. Remove any moisture and try cleaning contacts.

If you want to check the air pump (I don't think that's it) you will find two wire connectors. With power to the lower connector (ignition on) there should be continuity between the two upper connector pins. With no power to the lower connector there should be no continuity to the upper pins. Replace relay if you don't get this.

Interesting. This is the first I've heard of someone mentioning the sensor behind the fender. I'll check it out.

If you have a Helm Manual '00-'01 it is step 7 in DTC troubleshooting section (page 11-146). DTC 0410 Air Pump Circuit Malfunction.

Helm Manual is the factory manual. Reference provided should be good. Helm was the factory authorized providers for all 3 manuals; Service Manual, Electrical Manual, and Body and Paint Manual for the early S2000. Not sure what Honda did in the F22 series.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. I’m in the exact situation as above but since there isn’t a resolution listed I’m looking for some assistance. I keep blowing the 60A fuse my confusion is the wiring appears different from my ‘01 and my ‘03. I can’t determine what the part that I’ve circled in the picture below?

Any help is appreciated.

@Birdybog

I believe what you have circled is a TACH test point.

You guys should ohm out your circuit, if you're blowing a 60A fuse, there is likely a short.

If need be I'll snap some of the TS manual this evening.

What is the wiring (red arrow)? Look big enough to carry 60A and blow a 60A fuse, if shorted.

That is one of the two wires coming from the fuse box that houses the 60A fuse.
