Please tell me about my spark plug....
 

Today, I replaced new spark plugs because there was oil on my #4 spark plug.
And this is #1,2,3 spark plug. I don't have #4 spark plug now. I can't take picture of it, but I want to know how does it look like..

These are #1 spark plug. and exactly same as #2,3.

And I checked compress of #4 cylinder and #1 with my friend. When I start engine, the compression indicated about 90psi. and whe I push the engine start button not stating engine, the compression indicated about 150psi. However, according to engine assembly manual, Nominal is 228psi and Minimum is 135psi.

But we are not sure because that was the first time we have used that compression.

The reason why we checked that compression is because there was oil on #4 spark plug. and worry about O rings. I heard that is so expensive.

After change spark plugs I test drived about 40 miles. My engine is more smooth than befor.

So,, my question is how does it look like? and What is the problem if there was oil on #4 spark plug? :confused:

same thing happened to me with my old integra, except my 1-3 spark plugs didnt look scorched but my #4 had oil on it, the mechanic said it could be a number of things but sadly he thought i had a crack in the head gasket, my car did have 311,300 miles on it, hopefully thats not the case with yours, sorry i couldnt help more. keith

Your plugs look alright.
Was the oil on the number 4 spark plug on the electrode (tip of the plug)?
Or was the oil on the threads and above the plug (white part)?

When doing a compression test you should have all the plugs out of the motor and the throttle body wide open when you crank.
You should let the piston on the cylinder you are tested "pump" the compression gauge approx 4-5 times and that should give you a good solid reading.

There was oil on threads and maybe on tip. I'm not sure about tip.

but I'm sure there was oil on threads.

but, same compression which is both #1 and #4 means cylinder rings are fine? or we actully did wrong?

Should I have four compression machine when I test?

oil on the threads is probably nothing, real noticable oil on the tip could be, valve seals, or piston rings...

Don't mistake oil for fuel and carbon build up.
