Default Popping noise while turning

Hey everyone,

I have had my car for nearly two years and I bought it with really low miles (7900) and have only put about 16,000 since I bought it. I do not track the car, but I go on spirited drives occasionally.

Basically, I'm starting to notice a weird popping noise when pulling in and out of my garage and turning in parking lots. It seems to be when I am moving slow and turning sharply to navigate tight areas. I do not notice it at speed at all and no noises over bumps. It's hard to replicate, but it seems to happen at least daily. Car drives straight and handles fine, just noticing the noise (kind of like a pop or a clunk) is starting to bother me.

I had my car lowered recently (6 months ago) so that might be the culprit, but I had a shop do the fronts for me. Also, had the car aligned after getting it lowered. Any ideas of what it might be or places to start looking for the problem?

Thanks,
-Matt

It sounds like its coming from the front. I've already had my rear axle nuts replaced and retorqued...

It also makes the noise while the car is stopped, which makes me think it has something to do with the steering...

check the cv joints...they go bad with age and need to be replaced...when they do they pop or clunk when you are turning the steering wheel.

The only CV joints are at the rear of the car and don't have anything to do with turning the wheel at a stop.

Try grabbing each front tire at 3 and 9 oclock and shaking it hard in and out like you're trying to turn the wheel. Do you hear a clunk or anything else?

Same thing at 12 oclock and shake it towards and away from the car. Any odd noises?

It's easier to do this with the wheel off the ground, but not necessary.

Are all your wheel lugs tight?

^^^ Above. Now check the steering rack bolts, 2 min max. Then check the swaybar bolts, 15 min w. taking the cover off.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm starting to lean towards the camber/caster bolts being loose. I'll let you guys know what I find out!

Took it back to my friend who works at the dealership who did my alignment and the camber and caster bolts were not torqued properly. We snugged everything up to spec and no more popping. Thanks dosEquis for the reply!
