Default Preventative Replacement of Fuel Injectors

Hi all,

I'm in the midst of a mild overhaul following a bad oil analysis result (I have another thread discussing this!) which included some fuel dilution.

My car is a 1999 AP1 with approximately 100k miles. Following the fuel dilution result, I am considering replacing fuel injectors with new OEM.

Would this be a waste of money? I figured I could recoup the cost by selling my used injectors which seem to be functioning perfectly and have benefited from regular use of redline si-1.

Get them tested and cleaned. A set of OEMs is gonna put you out over $1200 and is simply not needed most of the time. Mine has 165,000 miles on it, has had a tune a long time and tracked hard. Mine were well past overdue for a clean and were flowing about 70% upon test. After cleaning they are flowing perfect right at about 380cc. Find a good shop that can do it for you. If some are bad just replace those.

Check out Hurst Fuel Injector Cleaning services. https://hurstinjectorservice.com/

I have used them with good results and it's a small business so happy to support them.

I had mine cleanded there: https://hurstinjectorservice.com/ He found a faulty injector with a weak or broken spring wich would most likely "Dump fuel in the cylinder one day". I bought a new one from Japan and used the three good, cleaned ones.
He is also a Member in the Bitog forum, his Screenname is "Trav". https://bobistheoilguy.com/ Everybody there praises him as the go-to place for Injector cleaning.

Ah! I remember this guy!

I ended up just buying four new injectors. RE: The earlier post - No duties additional duties/tariffs apply to Australia. - I figured I could recoup at least 40% of the cost by selling the old ones.

I send mine to RC Fuel Injection. They always do an excellent job and it comes with a complete report. Engine runs butter smooth.

I'm a huge advocate of cleaning injectors. The test report prior to cleaning says it all...

Most cities have diesel injection companies that work on diesel motors, they can clean your injectors and test them and give you a report. I have done that a couple times with a small company in my town. As noted above there are companies that specialize in the cleaning you can send them out to be done. The replacement cost seems like a lot of money. You can't go wrong with new but I would try to clean the oem ones first.
