Pros/Cons of Sportbike exhaust canisters on the S2k?
After searching on and on for different exhaust options, I decided on the Supersprint... but it's $1300, and I hear there are some issues with weld quality and the hangars. So I thought about dual Supertrapps... which got me thinking about Sportbike exhausts! The F20C gets its power from high RPMs, much like a sportbike. What would the advantages / disadvantages of getting custom piping and hangars to dual sportbike exhausts be?
For what I'm thinking, a pair of low mount slip on canisters welded onto some custom piping, or even stock piping, would work. Here are some interesting slip-ons I've come across. I'm posting dynos to show similarities in powerband to rpm

Micron Slip-Ons
Muzzy Stainless Steel Ovals
TwoBrothers Racing C5
Yoshimura RS-3 Ovals
And my personal favorite, the Vance&Hines for the Ducati!!
The canisters would have to be mounted sideways (90 degrees off from a sportbike install). I don't think that will be an issue though (since sportbikes are tilted at over 45 degrees through the twisties anyway . )

Unless I find out that there will be some negative effects, I think I will try this in the middle of November. I'll be attending the SEMA show in the start of November, where I'll be able to check out the different options and talk shop with some people with some experience with sportbikes.

i think you would need 4 canisters to provide sufficient flow on a 2 liter, 240 hp engine. one of the British mags (?redline, maxpower) just did a project car with quad over-under bike cans exiting thru valence on either side....check it out

I went into a motorcycle shop a few years back and inquired about doing that for my CRX and got laughed at. I still think it's a good idea. It would probably sound pretty good.
