Purschasing a turbo s2000
 

I randomly found a s2000 sitting under a tree. It was insanely dirty and sat for a while
I left my number bc I was interested in purchasing it.
the owner called me back.
the engine is fully built and it’s turboed.
the problem is his old turbo used a 4 bolt and his new turbo is a v band.
could I go to a shop and have them weld a adapter plate or do I need a turbo manifold.
(I’m extremely new to turboed s2000’s so I would appreciate all the help)

Well for starters I know I would never let my turbo S2000 sit under a tree like that and I can say the same for anyone else that has one. especially if all it needed was a new turbo and manifold. I would be willing to bet that the car has other issues. If all it has is a bad turbo then the car should still start. I am not sure where you are located but I would take it to a shop that has experience with s2ks.

You can run an adaptor but you may need to modify the lower intercooler pipe as the turbo will be moved over a bit.

Yea it has a couple other issues. Wiring harness was run right next to the turbo manifold so it melted slightly. He says he has a new wiring harness for it.
it does shock me that he just let it sit for 2+ years but he also has other cool cars so he says he just never had time to get to it.
Front bumper is cracked and paint is kinda bad. But he’s giving me a really good deal on it so I hope that’s the extent of the problems.
i don’t know anything about turbo s2000 so should it be able to run without the turbo? Obviously after a oil change.

It should at least start and be able to idle. It may smoke a lot because of the bad turbo. I remember 10 years ago I bought a turbo civic that had a bad turbo and was smoking a lot. The turbo had tons of shaft play. Even after changing it the car still smoked a ton. Turned out to be the rings were worn. I ended up getting a good deal on a trade since the body was pretty clean.

Please define "really good deal." And the model year of the car.

turbo s2000's have exciting but short lives.

Some truth to that but its not entirely true. It really depends on the quality of the build and you have to keep in mind most people that turbo an s2000 drive it like they stole it. I can never drive a stock S2000 after going the F1 route. It no fun getting passed by a Toyota Camry. Lol

It’s a 2001, 45k miles on body, 15k miles on built engine. Everything is done on it. Suspension, roll cage, racing seats, volk te37s, everything you can think of is done. Also it’s amuse wide body and aftermarket tail and head lights.

I'm missing the number proceeded by the dollar sign.

Post some pics as well. 15K on a built engine can mean trouble believe it or not.
