I don't have the same rattle. The rattle is there with or without a passenger and it seems to be coming from behind the seat.
I have the same problem if the passenger seat belt clip isn't tucked into the belt-loop slide OR if the passenger seat is pushed all the way back. This is especially noticeable when there isn't a passenger. There are also different noises (clunking) with the hardtop installed, but these only occur when driving over pot holes, railroad tracks, or the occasional expansion joint. I've learned to live with the hardtop noises, but I can't say it's been fun. FWIW, the dealer tried to fix the problem during the warranty period by making various adjustments and installing the new latches. His attempts, especially the new latches, resulted in a lot of improvement, but the noises are still there.

Pay particular attention to page 3 of the TSB, might be it. Good luck.

My problem doesn't appear to come from the convertible top, but from the seat, itself, or from the hardtop. Still, thanks for pointing out TSB-023 as it provides a good description of preventative maintenance I should probably be doing.

i doubt this could be the problem but who knows. for my car, i heard a rattle also comming fromthe passenger area. at first i thought it was the seatbelt tapping against the door so i held it. the sound continued. it turned out, the seat was tilted back too much and the seat was tapping the roll bar like loop behind the seat. so try positioning the seat in a more upright position. hope that works out for you. i know how annoying rattles can be

It could be the seat rattling against the cabin. I had that problem. I folded up a T-shirt and wedged it between the seat (just below the headrest) and the cabin. Voila, no more rattle!

Another member posted some pics of how he put velcro strips on his seats where the seatbelts rub and make noise. I'm going to do that next. Also, put some silicone grease on your roof seals, I just did that and it seems to help cut down on noise.
