Default REALLY WIERD VTEC PROBLEM

Hey guys, I have a 00 and this problem started maybe a month ago but it only happened VERY seldomly, and now it seems to be happening a bit more. what happens is, when im driving and i hit VTEC, every once and a while its almost like a rev limiter kicks in and wont let me go any higher in that gear, maybe around like 7000 or 7500. Its happening well after i make sure the engine is plenty warm and stuff like that, and I have plenty of gas. Any ideas?

Find the MAP sensor on top of the throttle body. Disconnect the wires from it. (A simple plastic clip.) Give the sensor a gentle whack with the handle of a screwdriver. Reconnect the wires and see how it goes.

Can you define a "gentle whack" in this context? When I was a kid and my Dad was teaching me to work on my motorcycle, he told to "snug" a bolt. When it snapped off in my wrench, he informed me that that was a "little" more than snug!

I'd say, with no more force that you would comfortably strike your own knuckle.

Why? From what I understand, the VTEC mechanism is activated by oil pressure. If the volume of oil in the engine is "just right," why couldn't it effect VTEC performance? I would think that if it "were" that low, however, they'd be seeing other indications, like a low oil pressure light?

I'm not saying you're wrong, just asking for clarification.
