rear diff.?
hey I know this is a newbie question but i was wondering if there anyway to launch your car without harming your rear diff.

"Rear diff" is redundant since this car only has one drive axle. "Diff" will suffice.
And as for your question (It's taking everything in my power not to flame on this one), there is absolutely no way to "launch" the car on the stock diff and not cause damage. It might not break the first time.. or the second time.. or even the one hundredth time, but I can assure you it WILL break. Our differentials are quite weak. If you want to launch your car, get a puddymod or R200. That, however, presents another problem. When you fix one weak point in the drivetrain you are just moving the problem to the next weakest point. That would be the transmission (if you don't count popping axles, etc..) If you want to play you gotta pay... and the way that you want to "play" can be quite expensive. And I would hope that you wont be "launching" you car on the street. Keep it on the track. |

hey original poster.
its going to depend on your engine condition, tires, tarmac condition. basically you want the rear wheels to 'slip' a bit to take away the shock rom the diff. If it hooks, youre in trouble. if it bogs+wheel hops, youre in trouble. |
lol yeah bout the 9k launch im not that much of a newbie, and im just tryin to get some fact before i mess something up thank guys

It doesn't matter if you're car is sitting on a block of ice, if you rev past 5k and drop the clutch you are eventually going to break something. Sooner more likely than later. You are correct in assuming that traction will aid in breaking the diff, but the major contributing factor is the initial "shock" of that much torque applied to it in an instant. |
