Rear glass window shattered when putting top up
 

Hey all,

Sunday I was putting the top up on my S2000 and the back glass window just shattered and I have no clue why. For reference I have a 01 S2k with a 06 top with Modify straps. I was parked in a drive at a slight incline.

Does anyone know why this would happen? I'm pretty pissed because I JUST bought this top last year and now I have to use ANOTHER $600 + install to get another. I'll post pics tonight.

Maybe there was something pressing on the glass when u rolled it up

there was nothing there. I put it up and down like 3 times that day. It was so random.

Did you watch the top go back up?

Only time I heard of this happening was a guy that drove it forgetting to latch it on the highway and it bent the frame, soon as he noticed the gap he put it down and back up and the window shattered.

Something is either bent or the top kinked on something on the way up putting uneven pressure on the glass.

Was any1 cutting there lawn? Maybe using a weed wacker to edge their lawn and hit a rock sending it into your rear window just as your putting It up? I've seen it b4

How long have you had the glass top on it for? Was it new or used?

The fitment of the glass of ap1s is doable but it isn't perfect.


PS I'm thinking about selling my like new glass soft top.

The glass window top is not a perfect fit on the early frame. It works, but it is not totally right. The STATIONARY bar is in a different positon in relation to the car body.

The MOVEABLE bar can bind and break the window because the clearance is less.

im pretty sure he swapped in the entire frame with top from a 06.

I had the entire frame and top switched from an 06 onto my car so I really have no clue what could have happened.

LOL, no one was cutting their lawn near the car. Hell it broke when I first started putting it up. The glass wasn't even exposed yet.

Top was used but in REALLY good condition. Only on the car for about a year and I was using the Modify straps. PM me with a price for your top.

I actually washed the car that day and put the top down in my driveway. I BARELY drive with it up but I do use it for protection when parking. This is all messed up.
