Rear Right Brake pads wear down in 2k miles
In November/December i replaced the right rear brake pads. They were worn down to the metal.
Last week I heard metallic rubbing again and looked and sure enough the pads on the right rear are worn down. left looks new. Both sides of the right rear were worn with the outer pad worn the most. inner only a few mm left. There is a sound from the right rear that sounds like the rotor is warped is it oscilates on each rotation. What I am wondering is that is it more than a rotor than is warped ? Could it be the bearings ? I have a 7yr extended warranty on it that runs out next Feb but have not brought it in yet. It is a 2004. |
Could you have a damaged brake piston?
Could your e-brake be jammed on that side? Sounds like the pad is rubbing and heating up the rotor. |
warped rotor and a frozen caliper is my guess

You may NOT have seated the "nipples" on the back of the brake pads to the slots in the rear caliper pistons. This could have led to the premature wear and effects you're seeing.

Thanks folks.
I''ve replaced the pads and made sure the piston was in the radial (perpendicular) position in relation to the rotor. I'll monitor it over the next week or two and if their is more wear looks like I will bring it in to the dealership. |
