Default Rear toe arm boot replacement

It's the same overpriced boot that goes on the front tie rod. I managed to do it without removing the arm. You don't have a lot of space to work with back there. I used the screw jack and a piece of wood to lay down the arm on, then ripped out the remains of the old boot. The boot has a metal ring that makes a type of press fit against the control arm. I used a think screw driver and a hammer to create a small wedge, it took forever and was a complete PITA, but eventually I got the screwdriver under the ring and popped it off.

Checked the ball joint for wear, or looseness, repacked it with fresh grease. It's important that you force grease under the ball joint, absolutely drenched it in grease, along with the inside of the boot. To get the boot to sit, I used a deep 32mm 12 pt socket which fits exactly over the lip of the boot. I didn't have space to hammer on the lip onto the arm, so I just installed it crooked, then I carefully used vice grips on the metal ring and compressed it against the arm until the metal ring was fully seated. Then I cleaned off all the excess grease thoroughly and bolted everything back up. The boots on the toe arms don't last as long as the toe arms themselves. It took 6 years for those toe arm boots to deteriorate, but the ball joint itself is in perfect condition.
