rebuild engine that has 130k+ miles?
On an engine that has well over 100k miles, what are the components that usually wear out and needs to be replaced? I know each situation
is different but what is the norm usually.. Is it cheaper to
buy the parts that wear out (springs, retainers, camshafts?) and build the head and block
or
just buy a prebuilt engine altogether (2013 for complete block, 2347 for complete head ) and get everything new...
if it matters, this engine will be turbo'd under 7-10lbs of boost but nothing more.. (with headgasket as well)

i'm not too comfortable boosting an engine that has this many miles.. i'd rather start fresh and have some assurance that its not gonna crap out on me after 10k or so miles.. don't want to have to pull the engine twice
wish my engine had 130k on thats means I would have had lots of fun driving it. I agree check the #'s and pump it with air. Look for a picture of the bottom end and you will see how strong it is. I have over 325K on a 94 civic daily driver and still have between 120 and 125 on all cylinders.

i don't understand your logic.
if you're rebuilding so it doesn't crap out...but if it does crap out, you rebuild anyway...so whats the point of rebuilding in the first place?
which takes you back to the logical option which is, if it tests fine...wait for it to crap out before rebuilding.

less down time for the car (its something I can plan for), I can still sell the old engine and get a new one,
Have the assurance that your engine doesn't have 130k miles. lol
plus, theres nothing worse than going 70-80 mph and something breaks
-might leave you stranded or worse, get into an accident..
this wasnt really the point of the post though,
I was just trying to find out if it was cheaper to buy those parts that wear out or just sell my current engien and get a new one.. lets say I can sell my engine for 1.5k, the new engine will only cost me around 2.5k ..
Thanks for all the insight though.

blow that sucker up and rebuild a monster
