Default Resonator cut out - now buzzing

I had my resonator cut out on my Mg Racing exhaust because it not loud at all and I wanted a bit more. Now at low rpm's it sounds great, deep and loud. But at higher rpm's it buzzes like a civic we all laugh at. The Mg racing resonator is about the same size as the mufflers. Will a smaller inline resonator that almost looks like a test pipe solve the buzzing and still keep the louder exhaust note? Or should I just have the MG resonator put back in so I dont have to pay for this 3 times.

Thanks

A resonator is not a muffler. It is designed to prevent your exhaust system from resonating at certain frequencies. The "buzz" you are experiencing is likely a harmonic resonance that is loud at a certain RPM, but goes away when your engine is at a lower or higher RPM.

A smaller resonator will change the resonant frequency of your exhaust system, but you run the chance of having that "buzz" at a different RPM. Compared to no resonator, it would likely be at a higher RPM.

do you think removing the resonator on stock will make it a deeper growl? or more of a whine.. I really can't afford an exhaust, so i'm trying to figure out the most cost efficient way to get that deep sound.. I'm thinking the AEM CAI might help a little.. I can get an invidia for a pretty good price, but everyone tells me those are just too loud..

AEM CAI will give you plenty of growl, you won't be disappointed.

Do a search on resonator removal. Many of us have done it. I can't think of anyone that regretted it. It does not create a noticeable drone or whine. It gives a slightly more sporting sound without being loud. It should cost less than $50 to have it removed.

I was dissapointed with my AEM so I bought an Invidia to compliment it. Im one happy bunny now!

The invidia is loud yes but a nice loud, as long as your thrashing it constantly otherwise it can drone a bit.

By removign the catalyst and putting a test pipe in place the droning will be less.

I also removed my resonator, and am still happy with it. It does make the exhaust note a bit deeper, especially around 3-5k, like a Z. Now with the V2 combination, at WOT the care growls like a beast. Get a test pipe and that should make it a bit more deeper.

hrzz,
the resonator from the stock exhaust? i heard a g35 and a z last night and they both had really nice growls (especially the z).. cna probably get the resonator removed at any muffler shop (i.e. mineke?)
are there any repercusions down the road from removing the resonator?

I can't find the post, but just last week someone on another thread removed theirs and regretted it as he said the car now sounded like an angry bumble bee.

I was all set to remove mine until he said that. IIRC he also said he didn't notice it from inside the car, only when he had someone drive the car by him.
