Instead of a bent hose, I have a rod for screwing. An extension really, I have a variety of spark plug sockets with rubber grommets that hold the plug in place. I thread by hand holding the extension and when I am ready, just slip on the rachet/torque wrench.

I have to replace my actual spark plug socket with the holder. Holder got loose as they do and would end up staying on the plug when the socket came out That was a long time ago though. I normally just either use a piece of hose or my extendable magnet to place the plug down in there.

At my dads shop he had some long magnets that he stuck a piece of hose over so it would protrude a bit to help get harder to get ones in place. I think he has one that has a flexi thing he used to make it for really hard to get ones.

I have one of these spark plug sockets with a fixed, pivoting extension. It's magnetic and doesn't come off the extension.

The rod extension I was speaking of has the pull pin to lock in place on the socket so it does not come out. The simple ball bearing can pop out. The slider pins do not.
