Default Roof is leaking! need help keep getting drenched and car smells lol

Hi guys,

Had my Honda for around 6 months now, recently been raining heavily over here in the UK.

It seems that when ever i park my car under rain its all collected in between the window and the roof seal? As when i initially open the door theres no rain but when i drive or go round a ben it all seeps into the car as per the below pictures

Its getting frustrating now as a few times its now gone onto my phone which ive left on passenger seat or all down my side soaking me... also its making the car smell a bit funky

Below pics of where its leaking from

Any tips ideas guys? and also how much roughly it will cost to fix

I had exactly the same on mine, I got frustrated and just installed a new roof, it has fixed it from what i can tell, there is only a slight trickle of water during heavy rain where I havnt put the seals back in perfectly or greased them.

Try applying some Shin-Etsu grease to the rubber bits. Use your fingers and apply a good bit and then clean up any excess with a paper towel. The grease "plumps up" the rubber seals and helps keep water out. I usually grease my rubbers in the spring and fall....

For the smell side of it, get something similar to these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-x-INTER...item5409014c65

They fit perfectly underneath the passenger seat, assuming you have a oem seat. They soak up some of the damp/water in the car so should remove some of the smell.

I was using these with my old roof and they filled up in about 6-8 weeks depending on how much it rained

Shin-Etsu is chemically identical to 3M Silicone Dielectric grease that is available in many auto parts stores. Plumbers grease (read the label) can also be the same grease.
Little dab a do yah.

Yeah - I bought a tube of the Shin-Etsu about 10 years ago and I still have more than 50% of it left. Still works fine, so I'll keep using it. When I finally do need to replace it, I'll buy the 3M. I've seen it in Autozone and even Walmart.

Buy some Shin-Etsu at the Honda Dealer. Wipe it on all rubber seals. As others have said it is most likely the cause. The grease will will restore the flexibility to the rubber.

Using Shin-Etsu or a good silicone paste on the seals regularly is a must. It keeps the seals plumped up.

Also if rain is expected I try to raise the windows with the doors opened to make sure the glass is laying firmly against the seals

Or if the windows are already closed I open and close the doors again.

Also make sure the side seals are still in their tracks on the top.

If the top is not tight at the latches. You can sleeve the "J Hooks" with some clear PVC hose and tighten up the latch.

Hope this helps.
