S2000 2nd gear crunch.

I suspect clutch is not full disengaging, and there is slight drag.
Do a very thorough gravity bleed. Search for diy.
Adjust clutch rod. See excellent youtube video.
Make sure clutch pedal height adjustment is correct. There is a spec for its height from floorpan. Adjust via interlock switch that acts like an upper stop.

Agree with above. Not sure exactly what "slight" means. But, I have read in these pages (a Billman post I believe) that a bit of what I would call a "catch" is normal. Its reduces when warmed up. Also, shifting at 4-5K or higher eliminates it.

Had that problem couple of times yesterday, adjusted the rod by shortening it, and everything feels 10000 times better. Its a 12mm nut on the back of the u-joint connecting the clutch pedal, its not easy to see, you will have to "feel" your way thru. Good luck!!

After my clutch rod was adjusted yesterday, my second gear grind twice upshifting from first at stop lights. I shortened it after I got home and problem was solved. Shifter feels better and clutch engagement point is now right in the middle of travel, just like my previously owned AP2. Just sharing my experience.

There is a very good you tube video (see link below) that explains how to adjust the clutch pedal free play. I assume this is what you mean when you say "clutch rod." The video put an end to a long long long thread on the topic that got really confusing. Just watch the video and you have all you need to know.

Sorry for removing the issue I was having. I was getting a slight crunch from 1st to 2nd gear. It was very apparent when the car was warming up. As it fully warmed up, I was still getting those crunches but not as often. So I decided to flush the transmission and put half Penzoil Synchromesh and half Honda MTF as recommended by Ben Schaffer from Daisy Auto Import Care (Specializes in NSXs). that’s what helped cause the crunch to mostly go away. Before all of that, I regreased the shifter, replaced the clutch master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder. I sold the car several months ago and now have another one. My current one doesn’t have this issue.
