It is interesting, because I am the exact opposite. I like to have the engagement point on the high side. I have that rod adjusted toward the master cylinder so it just touches the master cylinder piston when the pedal is fully released.

I have to say, I don't think this adjustment has much to do with transmission crunch unless you turn that rod so far toward the rear of the car that you aren't getting enough throw in the master cylinder to disengage the clutch with a full pedal push. If I understand the way you adjusted the rod, it seems that would make it worse, not better. But, I honestly doubt it would have any affect at all, except maybe at the extremes.

I shall see what happens with it on Saturday at Lime Rock, running with PCA. I drive mine pretty hard, and so far my test drives today all passed my anal-ness with flying colors. I shall report back on Sunday if there's any issue.
