S2000 accident - frame damage question

Hi,

I spun out and crashed my s2000 into a fire hydrant recently. The car came to rest on top of the hydrant.
The insurance adjuster gave me a preliminary quote of 6.5k and mentioned frame damage. I believe this to be an underestimate because I'm afraid that the frame is bent. Repair costs of over 14-15k will total the car.

Upon reading the article here: Beyond 6000: May 2013, The article says:
"if the Xframe twisted, the car is gone! you will never ever be able to traction it to place... the X Frame is either immaculate or need replacement. No possible fix here"

Will get the car checked out by a body shop this weekend, but I'm not sure if they'll be aware of the special nature of the s2000's unique frame.

From the accident pics below, does it look like the Xframe has been twisted?

Whilst it's hard to say for sure and going according to that article which in particular focused on side impacts such as yours, it may be compromised sadly. Let's hope not! I think that just the left side panel that was damaged could be replaced as that is a replaceable part. A good shop needs to inspect it closely.
How did that happen by the way?

lol

I hate to be that guy..

but the other car in your pictures...has parking lot lines all beside it... and its in a corner of pavement not a road..

lol, so you ran over a fire hydrant acting like a jackass in a parking lot?

hahaha..please just sell the car and move on.

The “other” car is a police car. I looks not like a parking lot but a street under an elevated freeway.

Deckoz, you are the one to move on.

OK, sure it could be a street, but it looked like a building with a parking lot. lol looks like a mustang was supposed to be where that s2000 was.

lol you want me to move on?

What, the wrong guy? Based on the post above saying it's Tysons Corner...

Not a parking lot. Lost it making the right turn, too many variable as to why, and I don't think we should judge, or be asses about it.

OP, I have no idea if there's frame damage, but the repair to the rocker and rear quarter is expensive. Depending on the mileage be prepared for it to be totaled, my guess is $12-15k based on a friend who had similar damage.

Of course its difficult to know from photos, but my guess is no real damage to X frame.

To me it looks like damage limited to door and rocker.

Ok sure I'm the guy that's wrong.. but still, while not a parking lot... a public street, lost it in an ap2 making a 90 degree turn... lol

still might as well put a mustang where that s2000 is... because something is wrong with this picture.

Anything can be fixed depending on parts availability, its more about the labor involved. Ive seen all kinds of cars brought back from the dead, but for the average person without the tools and the knowhow - its just not worth it when you can buy an immaculate car for less than the repair cost.
