BTW, concerning the two clutch switches, they are standard Honda switches used on other vehicles. I had read some threads in which someone's switch disintegrated. I went to a dealer to order them in the future event mine broke but the parts guy said they were common and not unique to the S2000.

Thanks. This appears to have been my problem, too. I couldn't actually see the upper clutch pedal switch (A), even with a flashlight and mirror, but with the help of the diagram you posted I was able to worm my left hand between the clutch pedal and the sidewall and feel with a fingertip an empty hole where the pad or button the switch plunger presses against should have been. I've now got a new pad on order.

Awesome, I’m glad my thread was able to help you out Glen Ahlert. This is exactly why I followed up and posted a detailed resolution, because there is no sense in anyone having to go through the extensive troubleshooting I had any longer.
Ive read others who have replaced this pedal stop and the consensus is removing the assembly instead of trying in the car. It’s well worth the extra time because even on the garage floor, it was a PITA getting the new pedal stop installed.
Clutch assembly removed to install pedal stop.
