Serpentine belt condition
Due for replacement or still has life in it?

You didn't capture the indicator on the tensioner in the video, this will give you a better indication on belt stretch. If there are stress cracks on the ribs then I would replace the belt soon.
|
If in doubt replace it as preventive maintenance which is the best maintenance.

The oem belts on this car last a really long time. It might be a mistake to replace prematurely with an aftermarket part. Might actually go bad sooner than the original well used oem part.

The OE belt is available.

Yes, it is. But a lot of people find it overpriced, and go with aftermarket. I believe people are swapping out oem belt that still has lots of life with an aftermarket belt that actually has less life.

I purchased a Continental belt last year to replace my 19 year old original and it made a weird whine noise. I took it off and put the original back on and used it another year. Not sure if its defective or what but this thread reminded me I should probably figure out something before it snaps.
Anyone else have issues with non OEM? |
