Question sigh spindle nut probs i think

hopefully ir is the spindle nut from reading xvipers posts. For those who have had it fixed by greasing and retorqueing it, are these the symptoms?? I test it many times today...

ok when I hit reverse I get 1-3 clicks for like a second or so. When I'm N to first I get the same click sometimes. It sounds like it coming from the rear, small clicking popping sound very faint. So I only get it from R and going to 1st then it disspears all together just that 1st second.....

If so I'm, gonna take it to a private honda mechanic and it shouldnt cost more than 5-10 dollars since I dont have a torque wrench etc. hopefully its just this small porb.

I have the same problem. I took it to the stealership and had them supposedly take it off, regrease and retorque it. Well, about two weeks later, the noise is back again. I don't know if they did it right and I possibly have another problem or what?

I have to go back to the dealer for the same issue since it's back with a vengeance after getting the inner cv cups replaced. This sounds like the issue everyone is having, you can also check by accellerating quick in a low gear and then letting off the gas, as the car decellerates using the engine, it will apply the torque in the opposite direction on the wheel, I can get mine to pop this way as well. And, since they just got finished putting my entire rear suspension back together, I figure that's gotta be the only issue.

I had the same exact problem.

For some reasons, the dealership I went to failed to figure out this problem and fix it.

I had to find a Honda technique and have him do it on the side. Gave him the new spindle nuts and had him retorqued them. The problem is gone.

Warranty is only good when the dealers honor it. Can't rely of them!

Yeh I'm taking it to an independent honda specialty shop which are pretty good doing matnenace issues. At max should only take 15min, I'll probaby have one of the techs stand near the car since I'm not sure which wheel hub it is exactly coming from.

you do know that you can reuse your spindle nuts right? As long as they don't break when you take them off. Thanks to Xviper for that tip.

I mean the small clicknoise is just annoying for a second ,car drives perfect but I just want it fixed I'll give u guys and up date since my appt is 3:30 tomm. The funny thing is I have had this problem for a long time I just never really payed attention to it until recently because I had a similiarnoise and it was a small screw in my tire!! I'm thinking that is a very COMMON problem. so now I'm really attentive to any click noise.

Do both! Cus you don't want your left and right spindle nuts have different torque setting.

wow seems like lot of S's have this issue, well, relatively, for this very reliable car (don't wanna scare all the potential S buyers).

my question is, is this actually harmful??? will leaving this "untreated" lead to some failure of some component later on?? or is it just an annoyance with no ill effect to the car?

No, no damage has been reported as of yet that was determined to be caused by the spindle nuts. At least, as far as I know, and I've been fighting with this issue for almost 2 straight years.

There is also another TSB or some sort of technical mention about the clicking that was a little more involved than the spindle nuts. Not sure what was involved, but it mentioned greasing some other part of the rear suspension. A friend of mine had just the spindle nuts greased and the noise came back. After she did the other thing, it went away.

Suffice to say that greasy nuts still click
